Pair-a-Site

Report
As all great works of art, this game’s concept originated entirely from a pun. “Parasite” can be written as “Pair-a-Site” which reads like a dating website, giving me the idea of creating a dating simulator where you play as a computer virus.
The game is a unique combination of Bullet Hell, Dating Sim, and Platformer. Where smooth platforming movement is used alongside a varying set of skills to dodge and shoot down incoming bullets. The player also shoots open messages from their date to answer them, giving them a break from intense gameplay to try and hold a conversation with their date.
As the game's very text and character focused, I’ve spent a lot of my time on menu systems, creating dynamic and fluid transitions to keep the player’s interest while going through lines of dialogue.
Narrative wise, every character has a pun in their name (Kahn Kohrair the Galactic Emperor, Pria C. Dent the president of the world, etc), reinforcing the comedic nature of the writing. All the characters are either tropes dialed up to eleven, or a subversion of expectations just to mess with the player. Examples include a disaster chef, an egotistical failure, a robot that wants to be a real boy, and so on.
